Leaving before your boxes
Most students fly home before the container sails. Here is how that works.
The normal case
You pack with us during the batch's packing days, pay the balance, fly home, and the boxes sail a few days later. Indian customs allows boxes sent within one month after you land, so a batch that sails within a week or two of your flight is fine.
Your boxes wait in our Melaka store between packing and sailing. The first 14 days are free. After that we charge per box per week, shown on the estimate.
If you leave weeks before the batch
Book the batch anyway and tell us your last day on campus. We pack before you leave, store the boxes, and ship them with the batch. If the gap is longer than a month after you land, we tell you before packing and offer air, or a dispatch timed to fit the rule.
If the boxes arrive before you
Boxes may land in India up to two months before you arrive. The receiver in India (a parent or relative) signs for them. Keep the receiver's phone on and their ID ready for Delhivery.
What you keep with you
- Passport, student pass papers, degree and certificates, cash and cards.
- Laptop and phone if you can carry them. If not, we ship them switched off, padded and declared.
- A week of clothes, your chargers, medicines.
- Anything on the prohibited list (perfume, power banks, lighters) goes in your own luggage within airline rules, or stays behind.
Who can receive in India
Anyone you name at booking. Delhivery calls the receiver's number before delivery. For customs, the declaration is in your name as the passenger; the receiver only needs ID and address proof for delivery and KYC.
This is a guide, not legal advice. Rules change. Get My Bag checks the current rules with its forwarder and customs broker before every batch.
