Packing guide

The Get My Bag standard carton

Every box is the same: 54 x 40 x 36 cm, double-wall, 0.078 cubic metres. It holds up to 25 kg of books, or about 12 to 15 kg of folded clothes. Same box, same label, same stacking in the container.

We bring the cartons, the tape, the bubble wrap and the paper. You do not need to buy anything.

What you do before packing day

1. Sort your room into three piles: ship, carry, leave. Put the carry pile in one corner so nothing gets packed by mistake.
2. Wash clothes, towels and bedding. Clean and dry kitchen items. Consolidators refuse dirty or wet goods.
3. Empty drawers and pockets. Check for cash, cards, passports and chargers. We hand back anything we find, but it slows the day.
4. Finish or give away open liquids, perfumes, sprays and food. See the what-you-can-ship page.
5. Keep your passport copy, flight ticket and the receiver's address ready. We fill the packing list with you.
6. If you have original boxes for a monitor, printer or appliance, keep them. They pack best.

What our team does

1. Confirms with you what goes and what stays before the first box is opened.
2. Packs books flat, clothes folded, breakables wrapped, electronics in padded boxes, and writes a one-line inventory on every box.
3. Numbers and labels each box with your name and booking ID, in a running sequence for your batch.
4. Weighs each box in front of you and shows you the total. That sets your final price.
5. Gives you a photo of the stack and a copy of the packing list on WhatsApp.

What not to pack

Cash, jewellery and gold, original documents, perfume and sprays, power banks and loose batteries, lighters, alcohol, tobacco, vapes, drones, bone sets, syringes and chemicals, plants and seeds, rice and flour. The full searchable list with reasons is on the what-you-can-ship page.

Weight and size

Each carton carries up to 25 kg at the carton price. Between 25 and 30 kg we add a per-kg charge. Above 30 kg we repack into two boxes, because carriers will not lift it and neither should the delivery rider.

Anything that does not fit a carton (guitar, bicycle, monitor over 27 inches, mattress) is possible. Tell us in the booking and we bring the right packing or quote it on WhatsApp.
